THE FUTURE THAT REMAINS

Listen To ‘The Future That Remains’
Lyrics and Music by Jeff Pike

Can we see the truth in the future that remains?
Can we still feel the love in the never ending rain?
Will the lies and tears outweigh the happy years?
Will we still feel the pain in the future that remains?

Looking in your eyes love is hard to find
With the past so close behind.
When you’re on this side of the highest wall to climb
The grass is never green, unless you look behind.

Looking at us now, afraid and all alone
Do we bare the shame to face life on our own?
Will the lies and tears outweigh the happy years?
Will we still feel the pain in the future that remains?

Looking in your eyes trust is hard to find.
With the past so close behind
When you’re on this side of the highest wall to climb
The grass is never green, unless you look behind

This song in its entirety came to me while I was driving from Atlanta to Panama City Beach, Florida back in 1993. In those days I kept a portable cassette player with me in my truck to capture any ideas that may pop into my head. Through the years I recorded a lot of ideas that did not come to fruition. Some were worthy of the waste bin but many were not. ‘The Future That Remains’ is a song that I always wanted to record but never got around to it until 2013. I was having much difficulty in my relationship at the time and my feelings came out in this song. Perhaps you can relate. Hope you enjoy.
