On this intimate and aptly named CD, “Back To Basics”, you will find no drums, no elaborate studio production, and no fancy overdubs. What you will find are simple, emotional, vulnerable and honest recordings by an extremely versatile musician returning home to the music that comes from his soul. Just Jeff his voice, his guitar and his piano. Those who follow Jeff’s career and appreciate his original music have been anticipating and asking for this CD for years. Well, the wait is over. On “Back To Basics” Jeff has taken some of his most popular songs along with several unreleased compositions and given them new acoustic arrangements. The result is a raw and introspective album of music that listeners will relate to.
All 15 of the sound recordings on this CD are previously unreleased. However, there are 4 songs (On Down The Line, The Right Kind Of Day, Just A Little While Longer and Good Morning Alabama) were released with di!erent arrangements on previous CD’s. In preparation for the production of “50”, four “lost” cassette demos were found. (Here Stands Your Man, Even When You’re Gone, To Have It All and Good Morning Alabama) With the master tapes long gone, they were immediately restored as much and as quickly as possible and are included here on this special retrospective CD for the firrst time. Covering a time span of 29 years, (1982 – 2011) “50” was released to coincide with my 50th Birthday. It was an amazingly difficult and time consuming task narrowing down which tracks to include. This is a unique collection that I am very proud of.

Ever since I can remember I have been forever moved by this Christmas classic from the television Christmas Special, ” “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.” As a child I would patiently and anxiously wait all year long for that one part during the show when Clarice would sing this song to Rudolph. It never failed to moved me to tears and was always over to soon. You must remember that this was long before VCR’s, CD’s, DVDs’s, personal computers, i-Pads, cell phones and I-phones were even a dream in the minds of the people that created them. These special moments came around once a year on television, and if you missed them, then you missed them. People would plan their daily lives to make sure that they were in front of the TV Set when their favorite annual Christmas Special came on. For me, mine was and always has been “Rudolph The Red Nosed Reindeer.”
The message in this song coupled with the beautiful and haunting melody sparks hope, love and dreams in every man, woman and child, regardless of their age. It has always been a dream of mine to record it and I am very pleased and honored to o!er it to you during this Holiday Season.
