Inspired by an idea and recommendation from Paul Leslie of 'The Paul Leslie Hour', 'Always' is planned to be an album of 10 classic, romantic jazz ballads from the early to mid 20th century. I am recording 'Always' with jazz pianist, Conal Fowkes, drummer, percussionist Wayne Viar and bassist, producer, composer and recording engineer, Joseph Patrick Moore. Paul Leslie is onboard as creative producer.
I was hoping to be further along with this project by this time than I am. However, like my current album in progress, 'Right Where I Am,' touring, life, Covid, finances, time, and many other unexpected obstacles slowed things up tremendously. To be completely honest, it brought work on this project to a standstill, which has been intensely frustrating. After I return from my fall tour with 'MANIA - The ABBA Tribute', I will have December and most of January 2023 off until I leave again for my winter tour later that month. I plan to spend a large part of December digging my heels back into 'Always.' It will be the perfect follow-up, or possibly a predecessor, to 'Right Where I Am', and I am excited to see where the brilliant musicians recording the album with me will take this beautiful music. Stay tuned for more as it develops.
