 In Memory of Fred H. Pike - Fred Pike August 8, 1934 - February 15, 2023 One month ago today, my brother and I lost our Father. All of my life, I had frighteningly wondered how life would be when this time finally came. I cannot believe it has been a month. The days between then and now have been a blur, and honestly, I can barely remember what I did yesterday. But Dad's passing seems more like a few days ago than a month. The pain is still sharp, deep, and fresh, so I will keep this short. I haven't enough complimentary words to thank Kathy Mullen for all she has done for my Father and our family over the past eight years since my Father had his stroke and his slow decline started. She, above everybody else, took care of my Dad in every way until his last breath. We all agree that this day would have come much sooner if it had not been for her. My deepest heartfelt feelings and thanks are extended to Kathy Mullen, Joy Davis, and the entire staff at Legacy Ridge Assisted Living Facility in Alpharetta for helping to give my Dad a beautiful and loving new home since August of 2021. I sincerely and deeply thank Kathy Mullen, Jami Tack from Snell- Zoring Funeral Home, Linda Terrana, Lt. Colonel Jason Pike, Bob Byrd, and everyone at The American Legion Post 201 in Alpharetta, Georgia for helping plan Dad's memorial service and celebration of life the way he wanted us too. It took all of the seventeen days we had, and we were still working until the minute it started. Thankfully everything went beautifully. To everyone who took time out of their lives to pay their respects and help us celebrate my Dad's life, I cannot thank you enough. Some came from out of state and traveled many miles. I do believe my Dad would have enjoyed the celebration we put on for him. My Dad was an astute philosopher and a very educated man, and one of his favorite sayings was Carpe Diem -Seize the Day. Life seems long when you are young, and then when you get older, you wonder where it all went and how it disappeared so incredibly fast. Everything looks different. My Dad loved life and wanted my brother and me to love and live ours to the fullest. Life looks so very different today, and my hourglass looks way more than half empty, so I guess I better get movin'.... Much love and happiness to everyone, Jeff
